Jamaah Lock · Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

Jamaah Lock is built so that nothing about you leaves your phone. This page says exactly what the app touches and what it never does.

No accountThere is nothing to sign up for.
No server of oursThe app never sends your data to us; we have nowhere to receive it.
No analytics, no adsNo tracking or advertising SDK is included.
On your phonePrayer times, timetable reading, dhikr counting and Screen Time all run locally.

What the app stores, and where

Everything you enter or create — your place, calculation settings, prayer marks, the qada list, excused days, mosque timetables, custom dhikr phrases, reminders and the apps you chose to rest — is stored on your device, in the app's own storage and in a private App Group shared only with the app's own extensions. It is not synced to any cloud by us. It is included in your own device backups under Apple's rules, as with any app.

Permissions, one by one

PermissionWhen it is askedWhat it is used for
Location (When In Use)Only if you tap "Use my location" during setup or in Settings → PlaceA single fix to find your place and calculate prayer times. The coordinates are reduced to a place and kept on the device. You can type a city instead and never grant it.
NotificationsWhen you turn on reminders or set apps to restLocal notifications only: prayer reminders, "Tap to pray", Jumu'ah, Al-Kahf, fasting days, "scan next month". No push service.
Screen Time (Family Controls, individual)Only when you choose the Gentle or Firm mode and set up resting appsLets iOS show a shield over the apps you picked during prayer windows. See the section below.
Camera and PhotosOnly when you scan or import a mosque timetableReading the printed timetable on the device. The photo is shown to you for checking and is not sent anywhere.
Microphone and Speech RecognitionOnly when you tap "Start listening" on the voice dhikr methodCounting the dhikr you recite. Recognition runs on the device; no audio is recorded, stored or uploaded.

Screen Time data never leaves the device

When you pick apps or categories to rest, Apple's picker gives the app opaque tokens, not app names or usage data. Jamaah Lock cannot see which apps you chose, how much you use them or what you do in them. The tokens are kept in the App Group so the shield and the monitor extensions can use them, and they are deleted when you clear the selection or delete all data. The app never reads your Screen Time reports. You can withdraw the permission at any time in iOS Settings → Screen Time; the app will show that state and stop scheduling windows.

Voice dhikr

Dhikr counting uses Apple's on-device speech recognition (the SpeechAnalyzer dictation model on iOS 26, or on-device SFSpeechRecognizer on iOS 18). On iOS 26 the Arabic language model is downloaded once from Apple by the system; that download is Apple's and is covered by Apple's privacy policy. The app keeps only the running count. There is no audio file, no transcript history and no upload. If you decline the microphone, counting by tap works the same way.

Mosque timetables and QR sharing

Scanning uses Apple's Vision text recognition on the device. A timetable you save stays on your phone. If you choose to share it, the app builds a QR code or a .jamaah file that contains only the mosque name, the city if you entered one, the month and the times — nothing about you. You decide where it goes through the share sheet; we never receive it. A timetable you receive from someone else is stored only after you check and save it.

Purchases

Pro is sold through Apple's App Store as a one-time purchase or a monthly subscription, with Family Sharing. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; the app never sees your payment details or your Apple Account. The app asks StoreKit on your device whether you own Pro, and keeps that yes/no answer locally so it works offline. Nothing about the purchase is sent to us.

Siri, Shortcuts and Focus

The "Mark prayed", "Next prayer" and "Start dhikr" shortcuts and the "Prayer" Focus filter run on your device through Apple's App Intents. What you say to Siri is handled by Apple under Apple's terms; the app receives only the resulting action.

Network

Jamaah Lock has no backend. It makes no network requests of its own: prayer times are calculated locally, the offline city list is bundled, fonts and licences are bundled. Network activity comes only from Apple's frameworks (StoreKit, the system speech-model download) and from actions you take yourself, such as opening a link in the browser or sharing a file.

Data retention and deletion

Your data lives on your device for as long as you keep it. Settings → About → Delete all data removes timetables, marks, settings and the resting-app selection and stops all schedules; deleting the app does the same. The Pro entitlement belongs to your Apple Account and is restored through Apple, not through us.

Children

Jamaah Lock is for the person using the device. It does not use the parental (child) Screen Time authorization, does not offer accounts, and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.

Your rights

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or erase on your behalf; all of it is on your device under your control. If you have a question about this policy, write to us.

This website

This site has no cookies, no analytics, no forms, no accounts and no scripts or fonts from other servers. It is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which processes technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse, under Cloudflare's own privacy policy; we do not receive or keep those logs.

Timetable links (/t/#…) carry the timetable after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part of a link to any server, so the page reads and draws the timetable inside your browser and nothing about it reaches us or the host.

Changes

If the app ever starts handling data in a new way, this page is updated first and the date at the top changes.
